Zaca Mesa Harvest Update
September 15th. The fall weather has been superb, mild and beautiful. I just hope that holds. We started picking our Chardonnay and Viognier last week. We should finish picking Viognier this week and our Grenache and Cinsaut for our Z Gris by the end of this week. Surprisingly, the reds are close behind. We are watching them and tasting them regularly for flavors.
October 10th. The buzz in Santa Barbara County is all about the small harvest. We have seen a minimum of a 20% loss from previous years but feel fortunate as other wineries are seeing crop reductions of 40 to 50%. The loss is mainly due to the April freeze during bud break.
Currently, the warm weather has been a boost to the overall quality of the harvest. With the quick rain last week, followed by the unseasonably warm weather we are seeing a fantastic balance of sugar ( Brix) to acid. The Syrah has been coming in and our production staff is working seven days a week to process the incoming fruit and monitor fermentation.

Even though FedEx, UPS, and DHL may deliver wine in your state, Zaca Mesa may not legally be allowed to ship there.
